Ashley Simpson

Ashley Simpson is the Chief Executive Officer of A&M Solutions, which was founded in 2016.

Ashley served as Program Manager for ITC Holdings. In this role, she was responsible for leading Performance Improvement Program initiatives for over 700 employees and contractors within ITC’s Operations Organizations. She partnered with executive leadership and technical experts to identify risk and eliminate human and organizational conditions that could adversely impact the electric transmission system. Ashley utilizes the Prevention, Detection and Correction model while also applying traditional defenses such as effective communication, training, and self-checks for Human and Organizational Performance Improvement (HoPI).

Ashley has had the opportunity to successfully implement methods developed by the Department of Energy, NERC and INPO at Fortune 500 companies such as Consumers Energy Co. and DTE Energy. She established corporate performance improvement objectives and reduced O&M costs associated with human error by 63% within the first year. Ashley has developed and facilitated HoPI and cause analysis training for executive leadership, control room operators, engineers and nuclear power plant personnel. She has led Root Cause Investigations and has analyzed over 100 “events” related to safety and human error within electric and gas transmission, distribution operations and nuclear generation. She promoted leadership accountability and engagement by establishing executive learning teams to review and approve “event” investigations. With an annual usage increase of 12%, she developed corporate event information systems to report preliminary safety and human factor events anonymously. During her tenure, she developed and implemented a Corrective Action Program, which ensured the completion of over 200+ mitigation strategies and reduced the likelihood of event reoccurrence.

She has provided her expertise to several other electric and gas utilities in addition to other industries such as finance and healthcare.

Ashley received her Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Oakland University. She also obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan Technological University in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Power and Energy Systems. Ashley has received several performance improvement/human performance certifications from various organizations including the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.

Ashley is a Core Team member for the North American Transmission Forum’s Corrective Action Program. She is a staunch believer in giving back to the community. She serves as a speaker and mentor for several non-profits, which helps underrepresented students prepare for college and STEAM careers. Ashley has and previously held the position of Scholarship Chair for the American Association of Blacks in Energy.
